On 20 August 2017, the Straits Times wrote that an international study conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) involving 540,000 students from 72 countries, suggests that Singapore students – known worldwide for academic excellence – also experience high levels of anxiety.

The poll showed that 66% of students across all OECD countries said that they were worried about poor grades at school, and that among Singapore students, it was 86%

In Singapore, 76% of those polled reported feeling very anxious for a test even if they were well prepared, compared with the OECD average of 55%
